ITV soap fans have been left in the dark about the backstory of how Graham (Andrew Scarborough) came to have Jodie (Olivia Frances-Brown) locked in the back of his van during the Corriedale episode, which aired in January.

When Graham spotted Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) amid the carnage of the pile-up, he left Jodie and the van unattended, giving her the opportunity to escape.

After realising Jodie had vanished, Graham made a mysterious phone call, announcing to whoever was on the other end that she had got away. He also confirmed that he was “terminating their contract”.

Meanwhile, Jodie was found by DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who helped get her to the hospital, where she crossed paths with

her half-sister, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), and later moved to Weatherfield.

Emmerdale spoilers now confirm that Graham will suffer a shock attack as former lover Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) rushes to help him.

The drama kicks off next week when suspicious Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) follows his wife, Rhona, to Home Farm after discovering her lying about a house visit.

She promptly assists Graham, who had been attacked by a gang following the termination of a contract. Are the thugs related to Jodie’s escape?

The unanticipated closeness between Graham and Rhona causes them to nearly kiss, and a heartbroken Marlon observes it in secret.

Unable to contain it any further, Marlon questions Rhona about whether she still has feelings for Graham. The vet attempts to clarify her emotions to her husband, but will she shatter his heart?

“The fact that Jodie got away means that Graham failed in his mission,” Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona, told Digital Spy.

“He’s been lying low since, but when Rhona asked him to help find Dylan recently, Graham ended up exposing where he was – so the people that he’d been working for came to find him to teach him a lesson…”

Graham’s incident may reveal some of his mysterious connections to Jodie, but the full story is yet to be uncovered after Graham returned from the dead after a six-year hiatus.
