Joel’s explosive reaction in early EastEnders BBC iPlayer release as Ross makes big decision
Joel Marshall (Max Murray) has broken down in the police interview room.
It comes after his best pal Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) exposed his secret hideout in the Slaters’ garage, and dad Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) reported him to the police.
As viewers saw last week, the lads sparked an incident at school by playing explicit content to their peers, with a row broke escalating with Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) after school.
She claimed that Joel had hit her, though the exact events have yet to be established.
Ross was adamant that his son couldn’t do such a thing – though later in the night, he was proved wrong.
During an argument with Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) concerning his misogyny, Joel was infuriated by her words and launched his fist towards her face, knocking her onto the floor and into a state of shock.
Joel then pulled out his phone and began to record her, as he kicked her body and she whimpered in fear, unable to move.
She then made her way to The Vic to seek refuge, while he fled the scene.
Ross makes a decision
In tonight’s episode, Julie Bates (Karen Henthorn) was called in as Joel’s appropriate adult at the station, as Ross hadn’t been to see him. He’d watched on, emotionless, as his son was carted away the previous evening.
Ross was leaving the house when Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) caught him to ensure he had his priorities right – Vicki should come first, not vile abuser Joel.

She also asserted that should Joel be released, he isn’t welcome in her home.
At Vicki’s bedside, Ross apologised for what had happened and for leaving her alone. She then referred to Joel as a ‘psychopath’, saying he needs to be behind bars.
Ross told her that he wasn’t going to defend his son for his actions – they were abhorrent. Despite that, he wanted to know whether Vicki was right – is his son a psycopath?
He called Julie, desperate for her opinion, and was relieved to hear that she wasn’t willing to label one of her students in such a way.
Ross finally sees his son’s true colours
Ross headed to the station, against Sharon’s advice, and watched the CCTV footage of the interview room intently.

‘It was an accident,’ he claimed.
His true colours then shone through. Joel began to tears strips off the female officer interviewing him, saying that she was judging him as a man and that all women are the same.
When he realised that the video of Vicki’s attack had been handed over by his dad, he leapt out of his seat and shouted out that Ross is dead to him… unaware that he was watching on.
