According to a new report, several insiders have come forward with new insight into the creative friction that reportedly grew between Costner and Sheridan as the Paramount hit evolved from a cable drama into a cultural juggernaut. But as Sheridan’s writing became the backbone of the franchise — and as the world of Yellowstone expanded into spin-offs like 1883, 1923, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves (sort of), their dynamic started to shift.

Sources say Costner began to feel more distant from the cast as the seasons went on, while Sheridan — who wrote every episode himself — became the nucleus of production.

Wes Bentley Confirms Kevin Costner Fight
