EastEnders’ Joel Marshall has finally been caught out, as he discovers that the police have evidence of his brutal attack on Vicki Fowler. In harrowing scenes last week, Joel seriously injured his stepmum after she stood up to his misogynistic views, and she was rushed to hospital.

Ross was initially adamant that his son was not responsible for the attack, but he was forced to face facts when he found the video that Joel filmed of the horrific crime.

Left with no choice but to report his own son, Ross set out to find Joel. While Tommy was hiding his friend in The Vic, he decided to do what was right and disclosed Joel’s location.

Armed police then raided the garage where Joel was hiding and arrested him in front of the whole community, including Ross and Tommy.

In today’s episode, Julie agreed to be Joel’s appropriate adult at the police station, while Ross paid Vicki another visit in hospital – as Sharon warned that Joel won’t set foot in her house again.

Ross apologised profusely to his partner at her bedside as she recounted the attack, but Vicki was furious when he said he would have to go and see Joel at some point.

Julie explained to Ross that Joel has had DNA samples taken and that the teen had been asking for him. Against Vicki’s wishes, Ross decided to go down to the station and was able to watch Joel’s interview from outside.

Meanwhile, Tommy also had a visit from the police and broke down in tears as he apologised for assisting Joel.

It remains to be seen whether or not Tommy will be charged for his actions, but Kat and Alfie comforted their son for finally seeing sense.

Joel lied to the police, saying that the attack was an accident and he was simply defending himself against Vicki’s aggression.

He desperately tried to defend himself, but it was in vain as the police were in possession of damning evidence.

As the police questioned him further, Joel was more concerned about where they got the video from – and exploded in a rage when he realised his dad had given them the footage.

“We are done!” he shouted to Ross from the interview room. “Do you understand? We are finished! You tell him he’s dead to me.”
