EastEnders reveals new threat to Callum and Johnny as the truth is exposed
EastEnders has revealed a new threat to Callum Highway and Johnny Carter’s relationship as the truth about their romance is exposed to Lexi Pearce.
Last week, Ben Mitchell made a surprise return to Walford after turning up to his father-in-law Jonno’s funeral.
Ben’s joy at seeing his husband didn’t last long and Callum decided to tell him the truth about Johnny after the funeral was over.
A furious Ben lunged at Johnny and soon realised that his family had been keeping Callum’s secret romance from him.
With Ben back in prison after his day release, Phil Mitchell and Kathy Beale paid him a visit. He told them he wanted to see Lexi to tell her about Callum, despite previously agreeing that Callum was going to break the news himself.
After Phil opened up about his own mental health struggles, Ben said that Callum and Lexi were the only things getting him through, though he later accepted that he had to let go of Callum and focus on Lexi.
In today’s episode, Lexi finally returned from a school trip, unaware that any of this had been going on, and Callum prepared to tell her the truth.
Johnny surprised Lexi with a gift as the new couple got ready to tell her about their relationship, but Callum bottled it.
Johnny sought advice from Elaine Peacock, asking: “What if I’m the rebound and Callum’s just stringing me along?”
Elaine told Johnny to tell Callum how he felt, saying: “Johnny, unless you want to be relegated to the sidelines of this life, you have to stand up for yourself.”
When Johnny returned to Callum’s, he said: “I just want to know you’re not avoiding this.”
Finding them talking quietly in the hallway, Lexi questioned why Johnny was back at their house. After Johnny and Callum made up a lie, Lexi said: “Stop with the looks. I’m not stupid. You buy me expensive skincare and now you’re back having private chats?”
Johnny decided to tell Lexi, against Callum’s advice. She responded by saying: “You promised me nothing would happen between you two. What about Dad?”
After Johnny revealed that they had seen Lexi’s dad, she said she wanted to see him and stormed off.
