Y: Marshals Delayed — CBS Pushes Kayce Dutton Spinoff To 2026

Fans of the Yellowstone universe will have to wait a little longer to see Kayce Dutton back in action. CBS has confirmed that Y: Marshals, the long-awaited spinoff centered on Luke Grimes’ character, will not premiere this fall as originally hoped. Instead, the series is slated for a midseason 2026 debut, expected to hit screens in the spring.

A New Chapter for Kayce Dutton

Y: Marshals follows Kayce Dutton as he transitions from ranch life to law enforcement, joining an elite team of U.S. Marshals in Montana. The series promises to blend the grit and drama of Yellowstone with a new world of law, order, and high-stakes justice. Kayce’s experience as both a cowboy and a Navy SEAL makes him uniquely suited for his new role, balancing family responsibilities with the psychological toll of serving as one of the last lines of defense in a region plagued by violence.

Why the Wait?

Although CBS announced the spinoff back in May 2025, the network confirmed that Y: Marshals will officially premiere midseason, airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET, following the third season of Tracker, which premieres October 19. A specific date for Y: Marshals has yet to be revealed, but fans can expect updates in the coming months as production continues.

Returning Faces and New Additions

Alongside Grimes, Y: Marshals will feature several familiar faces from the Yellowstone universe, including Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, and Brecken Merrill, who plays Kayce’s son, Tate. The cast also includes Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, and Brett Cullen. While many fans are hoping to see Kelsey Asbille reprise her role as Monica Dutton, no confirmation has been made regarding her involvement—at least not yet.

The Future of the Dutton Legacy

As Taylor Sheridan continues to expand his Western storytelling empire, Y: Marshals is poised to offer fans a new look at the Dutton legacy from a different frontier—one that trades pastures for justice and the Yellowstone Ranch for the wild lawlessness of Montana’s rugged terrain.

Until then, fans can revisit past Yellowstone seasons and prepare for another powerful, high-stakes chapter in Sheridan’s modern Western saga.
